Agenda:
- Pater Noster
- Review SAT Rubric Review
- SAT Calibration: What does a good/bad essay look like?
- Reading Journal: SAT Essays
- Students score un-scored essays, using the SAT rubric in order to internalize and apply the standards used by the College Board. For example:
- Essay X: 3 -- Although this essay develops a point of view on the issue, it lacks sufficient detail in its supporting examples. Vocabulary is adequate, and it develops some mastery.
- The In-class Essay (ICE): How does it apply to our Humanities course?
- Copy down HW.
Will students be taking the SAT this year?
ReplyDeleteNo. We are only learning about and using the SAT Essay (and its grading rubric) as a kind of template for writing essays in general, especially when it comes to timed, handwritten essays in class.
